No. Anyone can learn Reiki. You do not need to be psychic, intuitive, or especially spiritual, and you do not need to believe anything in advance. Reiki is passed on through the attunement from a Reiki Master, so the ability comes from the attunement, not from a gift you were born with.
One of the most common things I hear from people who are curious about Reiki is "I would love to learn, but I don't think I'm gifted enough." Or "I'm not really a spiritual person." If that sounds like you, I want you to know that you are exactly who Reiki is for.
Where the Ability Comes From
Reiki is not a talent you either have or you don't. It is universal life force energy, and the ability to channel it is passed on to you through the attunement. That is the beauty of the system Mikao Usui created. It made Reiki something anyone could learn, rather than something reserved for a gifted few.
